My skating audience

Today I learned that aside from my neighbors, others have been following the improvements in my skating expertise-LOL. The newspaper carriers commented that they've been watching me for years and I have gotten much more graceful. Its nice to know that what is fun for me is enjoyed by others, as well.

I'm looking forward to the cooler weather of fall. It's nice to be able to get out and skate at times of day besides very early morning and not become a pool of sweat instantly. I would recommend inline skating to anyone who is looking for a fun, aerobic exercise. It took me a while to get comfortable but it was worth it. It is lots of fun. I've been skating for about ten years and enjoy it as much as ever. I can be tired and achy and once I get out there moving, I feel great. It helps to have a street that gets next to no traffic and is pretty level. Ours is about 1/4 mile long cul de sac. I usually get in about 24 laps a day, about 45-50 minutes. I skate from 3 to 5 times a week on average. I've gone though two sets of skate, dozens of wheels, several cassette players and headsets. I currently use a CD player. Good skates that fit are really important and I always wear wrist guards and kneepads. I used to always wear elbow pads and a helmet, too, mostly as an example since once upon a time I was an instructor. But now I want to be comfortable. I've quit lecturing people on wearing adequate gear.
